This homeowner's old dryer vent was buried in the mulch and barely pushing air. We replaced the whole run with brand-new metal pipe and a new exterior vent. Here's how it went, step by step.
1. The Problem
The old dryer vent was buried in the mulch at the foundation, crushed and clogged, so the dryer could barely push air out.
2. Measure & Mark
We measured the run inside and out, then marked the exact spot on the foundation for the new exterior vent.
3. Core the New Hole
With a core drill, we cut a clean, round hole through the foundation wall for the new vent to exit.
4. New Metal Pipe
Old pipe out, brand-new metal pipe in from the dryer to the wall, sealed with metal tape and held with clamps and hangers.
5. Airflow Check
With the dryer running, the new exterior vent flap blows wide open. Strong airflow, proof the job was done right.
